Kate lay on her stomach in the Quad at her new school, feeling very...disconnected. She picked a blade of grass and played with it, getting used to the new personality she had created for herself. She imagined tiny little people sitting on the blade of grass, staring up at her, sliding down. Then she imagined that the blade of grass itself was a little green person, with tiny stick arms and legs, and she danced it around, as though it were a doll.

Zhiehkinst moved happily into the quad, staring around with shining brown eyes. Her bangs flickered from side to side as she went along her way. She pounced between sidewalk and grass, her arms at full span as she went between the two, pastel blue sleeves danced around her small figure in the slight breeze. She never once stopped moving in her carefree manner, and her eyes shot about as she took in the campus. Nobody was there, or so she thought nobody was there, and then for the second time since the year had begun, she stepped on a person. Taken entirely by surprise, she tripped, fell, tumbled, and then whimpered. She looked up slowly, tears of surprise had gathered in her eyes, and so she wiped them away before speaking a repetitive "sorry, sorry, sorry," and then asking "are you alright? Sorry."

Kate felt a foot meet with her body, and looked up to see a small body on the ground beside her. Damn, and she hadn't even been trying to go unnoticed. She gave the girl a shy, sweet smile, as befitted her new person. "Hi. I'm okay, are you okay?" her voice was soft, gentle, innocent-sounding.

Zhiehkinst gave a sigh of relief, wondering to herself why people at the school liked to lay around on the ground so often. "Sorry, yeah, fine, hello," she returned the greeting and the smile, her warm and innocent brown eyes reflected the smile easily. She sat up, crossing her legs and leaning over, curiosity inscribing itself upon her face. "What were, or are, or were, you doing here?" she asked quietly, her wide eyes were glued to the blade of grass the girl held in her hand.

Kate smiled softly, also looking at the blade of grass. "I was imagining what it would be like if this blade of grass were a tiny little person, with little arms and legs. His name is Monty, and he likes to dance." She informed the other girl.

Zhiehkinst tilted her head to the side, letting her bangs brush her cheek lightly. With the concept given, she could see it, a world where people danced with the wind and wavered with the storms, a world where people would drown to an ocean, but spring up again from the ground. A world within a world, and she smiled happily at the thought. The girl before her was strange indeed, but she could not deny that she was, as well. Just then, she realized she hadn't a name to call. She got up and spun, letting her sleeves flutter around her, and then turning her head to the sky. "Zhiehkinst Yuuin," she said in a delighted voice, "glad to meet," she continued turning back to the girl with a happy grin before pointing at her. "Your turn, tell me your name," she chirped.

Kate smiled. "Kate Acardi, but I like being called Lyric. Kate is boring." She grinned at her new friend, wishing she had sleeves like that, to flutter so freely in the breeze.

"Lyric, then, one day I'll get your approval of the name Lyre, Lyre of the stars, stars because they're pretty" she responded in a half-teasing half-zoned out voice. Her eyes flickered with a mix of happiness and amusement, the spice to the mix was shine, that brilliant, pure shine. Her mind hummed quietly to her all the while as her thoughts bounced from one topic to the next. A calm, soothing, yet upbeat song came to her and she traced strange notes in the air before remembering she had the company of another. She spun in another circle with a happy laugh before flopping down again in a happy fit of untainted, quiet giggles. She looked at Kate with an admiring look on her face before speaking, "and then I'll let you call me whatever, but until then you call me Ekin," she grinned mischievously before her mind wondered further, "so what do you like to do?" she asked in a childish manner, looking up and watching a bird flutter by all the while.

Kate let her dark eyes go wide. "Glad to make your aquaintance, Ekin. You, too, may call me whatever you wish. "I like to do all sorts of things, and yet nothing of any consequence, all at the same time. Isn't it odd, how you can like something and nothing all at once? What do you like to do?" she liked Ekin already, and she was fascinated that she had found someone to inspire her new personality. She smiled at Ekin with an open, child-like naivete.

Zhiehkinst tilted her head to the other side, reflecting the smile on her own face. Her eyes trailed yet again to the sky and a thoughtful expression came to her face as she thought. She scribbled out of habit and she composed out of boredom. And then she recalled something she enjoyed greatly, "I like to play," she said thoughtfully, "not boardgames, those are boring...hide and seek," she said excitedly, jumping up in her enthusiasm, "wanna play?" she asked energetically as she became more and more hyperactive at the thought.

"Ooh, yes!" Lyric agreed, jumping up, mirroring Ekin's enthusiasm. "Do you want to count first, or shall I?" she grinned excitedly, like a child who was told they were going to the waterpark.

Zhiehkinst smiled her pure smile, laughing in her happiness. It was rare for a person to agree to the game, but it was one she took much pleasure in. People who hid well hid in the only places she noticed, people who hid in the open were ones that she could never find. Kids had eventually found this out, had eventually found a way to hide from her, but before that she had been masterful and took much childish pride in the thought. "Oh oh oh oh oh," she bounced around happily, memories of past games spinning through her head. The memories were like coal to a steam engine in the way they fueled her excitement so efficiently, "I'll seek, I'll seek, I'll seek," she said, no longer capable of keeping still.

"Okay!" Lyric said, bouncing a little herself. "Close your eyes so I can go hiiiiiide!"

Zhiehkinst grinned, closing her eyes and covering her face with her hand. She began her count, "ten..." she began in a whisper, but her voice became more audible as she went, "nine...eight..." she hesitated for a moment, laughing quietly to herself as her sleeves tickled her arms. She let her legs fall out from beneath her and continued her count sitting, her eyes still covered, "seven...six..." her mind wondered, blazing with tunes that Zhiehkinst only wished she could mimic with her voice, "seven...six" she repeated, "five...four," and she began to wonder where her new companion could have rushed off to, "three...two..." an entirely different world formed in her mind, one of myths, "One!" she said, her tone on a slightly louder scale then it had been before. She opened her eyes to a grey world, she blinked and it became a colorful one. "Ready or not," she whispered, "here, I, come" and so she cheered, wondering where she should begin her search.

As Ekin covered her eyes, Lyric scampered off, looking for a suitable hiding place. Suddenly, her Katana Acardi brain took over as she analyzed the area. Given that Ekin had tripped over her, she seemed to have trouble with the obvious places. Most people who had trouble with obvious places never thought to look up, unless there was a not-obvious place high up. She looked around to make sure nobody was watching before she jumped several feet in the air, to catch the branch of a tree in her hand. With one strong movement, she effortlessly pulled herself up onto the branch, draping herself gracefully over it. It was just obvious enough, just enough in plain sight, and only just above Ekin's head. If she was lucky, Ekin would either see the tree as too obvious a hiding spot, or assume that she wouldn't be able to get into it, since it was higher than even a tall man's head. Her yellow and green tye-dye t-shirt blended nicely with the leaves, which were just beginning to color themselves for autumn. She waited, watching Ekin through the fluttering leaves, trying to make her mind go back into Lyric mode.
