Jenna hauled her bass drum up onto the makeshift stage, which was really just a huge sheet of plywood layed down on the sand. She set up the kit, then began the wiring. She was always the one to set up the PA system, since she knew her way around electronics like she knew her way around her own bedroom. "So our song list is as follows, one of you guys correct me if I'm wrong: -Dani California; Red Hot Chili Peppers -Bad Luck; Social Distortion -Are You Gonna Be My Girl; JET -I'm So Sick; Flyleaf -Gives You Hell; All-American Rejects -Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine; The Killers -Ignorance; Paramore -Zombie; The Cranberries -Falling for You; Colbie Caillat -Untouched; The Veronicas Sound about right?" she asked, after listing them all.

“LIKE, OMFG, TOTALLY, WHY AREN’T WE DOING MILEY?! LIKE, OMFG, OMFG, OMFG! TOTALLY GIRLFRIEND, PARTY IN THE USA!” she said, in the best dumb bimbo voice she could conjure. She cackled harshly. “Yeah, that’s all, I’ll write it down.” And that’s what she did: Natalie sat on the edge on the stage, and wrote down the playlist on a piece of paper that the school had supplied. After she was done, she stood up and plugged an electric guitar into an amplifier. “It’s great to have a guitar in my hands again!” Natalie said, eagerly. “I feel naked without one…and not the good kind of naked…” She winked at her sisters.

Jenna chuckled and tapped out a quick beat on her kit. "Same, Jenna's hands minus sticks equals unhappy hands."

Grinning, Alice broke into a rendition of Fur Elise to make sure everything was set up right, "now now we can't have you two unhappy so I suggest we get this show on the road.

Natalie broke out in laughter, laughing so hard that she was gasping for air afterwards. “Oh god…hands…sticks…” she tried to speak between laughs. “WHAT TYPE OF STICKS, JEN?” She continued to laugh until it died down into giggles. Natalie cleared her throat afterwards, stood up straight and played the guitar riff from “Smoke on the Water”. The notes echoed loudly through the speakers. “WICKED!” Natalie yelled rather energetically. “Just wait guys, no one’s here just yet…” Nat put her guitar down gently, and quickly scrawled the playlist down two more times, before taping them to the floor of the stage: Behind the drum kit, behind the keyboard, and around the area in which Natalie herself would be standing. “Now you guys have no excuses to forget what we’re playing!” she spoke triumphantly, she was so excited. She went back to her guitar, and slipped the strap over her head. “Alright, shall we start with Dani California?” Natalie said in her fake, posh accent.

Large groups of people began appearing over the hill, laughing, talking, and walking arm-in-arm with each other. They flocked toward the beach, as the last strains of 'Bedshaped' drifted through the night from the open doors of the Dining Hall. As the music faded away, Jenna sat down behind her kit and angled the mic to pick up only her voice, and not the drums. "You guys ready?" she asked, and began the drum beat to Dani California. All of her stress seemed to vanish as she played the familiar beat, and suddenly nothing seemed confusing anymore.

Natalie quickly adjusted her microphone too, and plugged in her distortion pedal. “Ready!” She counted in her cue, waiting on four hits of the snare drum…hit, hit…one…hit, hit…two…hit, hit…three…hit, hit four… “YEAH!” Nat exclaimed, jumping to do the splits in the air as she strummed and plucked out the guitar riff for the verses, her fingers sliding across the guitar’s neck to form the chords. A minor…G…D minor…A minor…Natalie said this over in her head as she plucked the guitar’s A string with her lucky pick, though after the first few times of repeating the riff, she was at home on the stage, and nothing could stop her now. It was hard for her to contain her movement on stage, it felt impossible to Natalie to stand still; when she was nodding her head a tapping her foot, she was waving her hair around, kicking the air and walking around the stage in a rock star fashion. This, the stage, really must’ve been what Dorothy really meant when she clicked her heels and said “there’s no place like home”. Natalie moved back over to the spot where her distortion pedal was, as she could feel it was almost her cue to use it.

Jenna grinned, feeling like she was a paradise designed especially for her, as her sticks flew across the drums. She sang the lyrics, her beautiful voice ringing out to give a whole new sound to the song, and her heart was in every word, her chest filled to the brim with joy as she did what she loved to do, and did it well. This was already an amazing night, and she didn't see how it could possibly get any better.
