Appearance/Wardrobe: DJ has dirty blonde hair, which he styles to look messy. His eyes are steel-blue and they don't really stand out too much. DJ spends way too much time in the sun, and therefore is very tan. He's at an average height for his age. DJ always dresses like he's going to the beach, even in the middle of an icy winter. It's always board shorts, singlets or shirtless, and thongs (flip flops in the States). Oh, and sunnies. Don't forget the sunnies!
Personality: The first thing you can see about DJ is that he's an animal lover. He's a vegan, and would like to be a vet, perhaps one working at an aquarium, because he loves the sea and the beach. Another thing DJ loves - surfing, going for a swim and playing sports on the beach. DJ's probably the most friendly guy you can meet, but he goes shy around girls and gets a little competitive, especially around other guys. He also is bad at making friends, but once he makes them, he's set for life. DJ, despite his nickname, isn't really a party person. He's generally laid back and shows his softer side more than his tough side. People's moods tend to rub off on him - if you're sad, he's sad. If you're pissed, he's pissed too.
History: Kate O'Riley and Scott O'Riley met when one of Kate's colleagues had a seizure at the animal pound she worked at. Scott was a paramedic on the ambulance that arrived at the pound. So, DJ's mum was a volunteer at the pound and his dad was a doctor. Which is why DJ wants to be a vet. Anyway, Scott and Kate decided to go out for a coffee. 4 and a half years later, the two had a baby boy. They couldn't decide between Daniel and James, which were the name's of the baby's grandpas, so the came up with Daniel-James, which became DJ. A year after that, DJ's parents finally got married. Later on, Kate and Scott had a daughter, who now is in staying in Japan with a host family studying Japanese culture and language.
Now, DJ grew up normally by the beaches in California, creating his love for the beach. One day, at 3 years of age, when he was making sand castles on said beach, DJ met a girl named Allison. The two grew up together, becoming close, childhood friends. When they entered teen years, Allison and DJ formed a romantic relationship, which lasted for years. But then, Allison became depressed behind DJ's back, and unfortunately, drowned herself. If you think that was bad, when DJ went to Allison's funeral, he met another guy, who claimed to be Allison's boyfriend. So, while this stranger made a speech on Allison's hardships and how much he loved and missed her, DJ was sitting at the back, faced with the hardship that Allison had not only hidden her life away from him, but had cheated on him until her depressing death. These days, DJ has forgiven Allison but hasn't forgotten. He isn't really interested in girls.
