Carter blinked awake, seeing bright lights and light colors, nothing like what he remembered. He looked to his left, and felt a sharp pain in his neck. He tried to move his arm, to feel it, but it was in a cast, and the other was suspended so as not to touch his broken Leg. He screamed.
Now, this scream was not from pain, in a dark corner of the room, he saw something. It was a 7 foot lime green glowing skeleton with a bloody eye. Carter looked around, and saw the pale walls of the room, then closed his eyes, and imagined himself as a wolf, trying to calm himself. "Calm yourself boy, I am not here to hurt you." The skeleton spoke, and Carter's eyes shot open, as he tried to scramble away, placing his broken arm accidentally on the bed, and feeling a massive shock go through his body. He hit his head on the headboard, and fell unconcious. Carter opened his eyes, and still unconcious saw his past at Epson, the moment he left, the hateful glares of everyone there. He twitched, and ripped one of the heart monitors off through movement.
The flatline went on, and a nurse burst through the door, and reattached it, not appearing to see the giant skeleton behind her.

Carter flinched, as he saw Bradley burst through the door followed by someone he vaguely recognized. "Bradley?? Is that you?" Carter croaked. "Carter!! DUMBASS!" Bradley shrieked

"Hush, bruddah, huhu nevah help nobody," Charlie soothed him. The high-stress drive to the hospitalk had left her feeling light-headed and short of breath, the chest pain returning, and she quickly popped a pill in her mouth. "Hey, Carter, howzit?" she asked the boy in the bed, with a gentle smile.

"I feel like shit, that's how it is" Carter croaked, soothed by her pidgin, a reminder of their childhood. "bro, you dumbass!, how the fu.kk did you get into a car crash?" BRadley stood stunned by the shard of glass stuck in Carter's right eyebrow. "Dude, how did you get that stuck in your head"

((Realistically there wouldn't be any glass left in him, the doctors would have removed it all, or he wouldn't be in a room already.))
"No shiz, brah. You stay one kolohe." Charlie chided him softly, shaking her head.

"Well, it's stuck there on account of it being fused to my bones, something about incredible heat from the crash" Carter spoke, a now gravely tone taking the place of his once lyrical voice. "Bro, come on! I can't believe it, and why were you on the road in the first place?" Bradley asked, angrily. "Oh, and Charlie, I'm still a troublemaker, never stopped, for instance, who wants to have a firedrill at Epson? I can make that happen, even from here." Carter spoke.

"Charlie, I don't know what you're saying." Bradley said, smiling, "Can you speak normally? and Carter, feel better, go to sleep. I'm gonna stay here" He said, and sat down next to his brother.

Charlie shook her head, trying to jerk her mind back into mainland-English. "K'den, sorry," she she said, her voice still coming out with a bit of a Hawaiian accent. She stuck out her tongue. "Howzit my fault you haoles can't understand tok ples. You's akamai." she grumbled, winking at Carter so that Bradley couldn't see.

Carter smiled at her wink. Bradley sat, growling at his stupidity for insulting his brother. "night bro, sleep well" Bradley smiled at him, and sat, watching his brother.

Charlie gave a wracking cough that shuddered through her skinny body, then curled up on the floor, sitting cross-legged and leaning against the wall.

"Charlie, are you ok?" Bradley said, whispering to her, so as not to wake Carter. "That cough sounds bad, I want to have a nurse take a look at you." He said, worried.

Charlie frowned. "How many years has it been since we've seen each other?! I appreciate your concern, Brad-man, but this is not a new thing."

"about 6 years, my friend. But still, NURSE!" Bradley said, screaming the last word. "oh, Hello Charlie, haven't seen you here in a little while." The nurse said, as she ran in, recognizing her.

Charlie smiled politely, "Hi, Melissa. Sorry, we don't actually need anything, Bradley over reacts quite a bit." she glared at Bradley as the nurse smiled and left. She only knew Charlie from the 2 checkups she had had since she moved back to the mainland, a month ago. Once the nurse was gone, Charlie turned to Bradley. "Do you want to wake Carter up? I told you I didn't need a nurse!" she hissed.
