Alexa made her way toward the beach, her progress painfully slow as she made her way down the path, following the salt smell of the ocean and the sound of 'Dani California' being played on the stage she knew was set up on the beach. She shuffled her feet as she walked, so she didn't step in a hole or trip over something. She kept to the edge of the path, just where she could feel the hard-packed earth turn to loose pine straw and undergrowth. Many people passed her, talking and laughing, but they ignored her so she didn't say anything, just kept picking her way toward the beach.

Amanda sat down in the sand, looking out in the water, hopeless. She had just learned some news she couldn't bear to take. Amanda looked down and felt a tear pour down her cheek, and she wiped it away so that people wouldn't think she was weak. She tore off her sundress so she was just in a swimsuit, then she ran into the water.

Alexa, finally reaching the beach, heard a girl crying, and moved toward the sound. She reached the location and almost tripped over Amanda's sundress, laying in the sand. Then she heard a splash. She carefully sat down crosslegged next to the sundress, to wait for the girl and make sure she was okay.

Amanda turned her head to see somebody sitting next to her sundress so she swam out of the water. "H-hi" She sluttered and sat down, drying off. "I-I'm Am-Ma-Anda" She said shakily, the cold water had a high effect on her. Amanda looked over at the girl and couldn't help but feel mesmerised. This girl was beautiful, she truly was.

Alexa smiled her sweet, innocent, child-like smile at Amanda. She had become so good at judging distances that her milky, sea-green eyes looked straight into Amanda's eyes, giving the impression that she could actually see. "I'm Alexa," she said, her voice soft and sweet. "But some people call me Alex or Lexi. You can call me anything you want. Why were you swimming? It's awful cold out for getting wet."

Amanda smiled again, and then shivered once more. Her lips were getting blue, she could tell without a mirror. She smiled a weak smile, still awfully hurt. "I dontk now, I just got some bad news and wanted to just leave the world for a moment" She said, her voice crackingg multiple times making her blush.

"I believe there is an unused towel on the rail over there," Alexa said, nodding up the beach a very short distance. There was. "Do you need someone to talk to? I'm a good listener." she offered with a gentle smile.

"Yeah, I'd like that" She smiled, getting up. She put her sundress back on, feeling less cold already. "Do you want to go to the Zuni Cafe? It's a quiet place, so It would be easier to speak there" She said, running a hand through her hair.

"Mmm," Alexa murmured, thinking. "It would probably be better to stay here, if you don't mind...My brother tends to freak out if I disappear, and he wouldn't want me going off-campust this late...Yeah he would have an aneurism. Do you mind? Sorry..."

"It's fine, don't worry about it"She said, dissapointed. She had really hoped to spend some time in the cafe with Alexa, but wouldn't have the chance. "Well, to begin the rason that I'm sad, My boyfriend's best friend just called to say that my boyfriend had broken up with me, my best friends hate me and my mom does too" I took a breath "I don't even know why I don't just leave the face of the earth, just like that" I said tearing up

"No! You mustn't think that way," Alexa said, clumsily reaching out to touch Amanda's shoulder. "If your best friends really hate you, they aren't true friends now are they? And I'm sure your mom doesn't hate you. Hate is not a feeling that comes easily to a mother. But when several things in life are falling apart around you, it's very easy to see bad things that may not really be there. And if your boyfriend would break up with you through his friend, he didn't deserve you to begin with." She physically felt Amanda's pain, and it hurt her to think that people would be so cruel.

"Those friends have been my friends since I was born, and my boyfriend, well now exboyfriend, has been there for me since I was 14 and had to move. My mom hurts me daily, she either calls me selfish or beats me. I just don't know what to do!" She exclaimed, already crying. "I've started to change my mind on things, and I know that's why my boyfriend broke up with me" She muttered and hugged Alexa, not walking to let go.

"Change your mind how?" Alexa asked, soothingly, rubbing Amanda's back. Her touch was calming, comforting.

"I've started to like...New people" She said, looking down. She didn't know what Alexa would do if she found out she was starting to become bisexual, but of previoius experience she thought it wouldn't be pretty. She was scared that Alexa would leave her just like her old friends. When her mom found out, she was extremely upset, same with her friends. Her boyfriend on the other hand hadn't known, well atleast she didn't tell him. Somebody else probably did. She looked back up at Alexa and hugged her again, just wanting to touch her lips to Alexa's.

"New people?" Alexa could sense her hesitation, and gave her a squeeze. "You can tell me anything, you know. I'm not a judgemental person."
