Steffy gave a friendly laugh, trying to lighten the atmosphere. "I'm serious, I think your eyes are really pretty! You should be really proud of them." She said in a much happier tone.

The eyes in question widened even further. Then slowly, a very shy, timid half-smile appeared on Jaqueline's face. Shyly, she did the sign language sign for "thank you".

Steffy looked at the hand sign confused. "What?" she asked, before she realised, "Are you mute?" she asked softly not wanting to hurt her feelings if she was.

Jackie blushed bright red. She shrugged, afraid to go into the whole "not-technically-but-I-still-can't-talk-when-I'm-scared" thing. She pulled a miniature dry erase board out of her bag, and in tiny handwriting wrote 'It means thank you.'

Steffy smiled kindly when she saw the board. "Oh okay you're welcome then" she said, before getting the courage to ask a really bold question, "So why won't you talk, are you scared?" she asked, her tone was warm not mockingly.

Ella finalled decided to check out her room. When she opened the doors she stopped suddenly "oh sorry hi im Ella im your roommate" she waved and went to the only empty bed and sat down. "So what are your names?" Ella asked smiling.

Steffy looked up when she heard the door open. "Hi Ella, I'm Steffy. Hope you don't mind taking the last bed."I say looking at her apologetically.

Jaqueline flinched again as the new girl entered. She retreated to the corner, hiding behind her bangs once again as she started to unpack.

Steffy looked away from Ella and back at Jackie. She smiled kindly before going back to unpacking her things. She thought 'Jackie is really nice maybe time is the best thing to help her open up...'

Seeing that Steffy was going to leave her alone, Jaqueline got up the courage to shyly blurt "Thank you..." her voice was quiet, soft and almost musical.

Steffy looked up at Jackie in shock. She gave her a huge smile before saying "your welcome, i think i have a feeling that we're gonna be great friends"she added hoping that she wasn't too blunt.

"Really? Awesome you're my first friend here" she laughed before going over to Jackie's bed, something in her hand. She placed a silver keychain into Jackie's hands. "My Nana made this for me, for good luck but she makes loads so i have a spare,here."

Jaqueline gazed in wonder at it. She lifted her eyes to meet Steffy's, and her voice was slightly stronger as she said "Thank you, t-this means a lot to me."
