"Yeah, I like it," Shannon replied with a grin. "Hey, loosen up, you look wound tight as a fiddle! I'm guessing you're not much of a party person?"

“You make good guesses.” He laughed, doing his best to relax as she said, before continuing. “I dunno, the party atmosphere’s not my thing. The beach is more my kind of scene. You probably knew that, though. And just my luck, because apparently the after party’s at the beach this year. Are you the DJ for that, too?” His attention momentarily flicked to everyone filling the dining hall up, including a boy who was definitely dressed a lot more formal than he was. “Looks like I’m not dressed right, but oh well,” DJ shrugged, reverting his eyes back to Shannon.
(While I'm on this, do you want anything to happen with Kemon and Hamish, or leave that until 6.30, the next day? Mind you, Dyniste would most likely murder poor Hame either way.)

"I maintain that there is no 'right' way to dress for these things," Shannon told him with a smile. Hearing his question, she responded, "Absolutely! I'm playing DJ the whole night. What else am I going to do, dance?" she asked with a bitter chuckle.
((It honestly makes no difference to me. What would you prefer?))

"Absolutely! I'm playing DJ the whole night. What else am I going to do, dance?" Pity for Shannon or disgust for himself – DJ wasn’t sure which emotion hit him first, but he was feeling pretty stupid at the moment. He directed his eyes to the floor, fixing his ashamed stare at his feet while he thought of a way to apologize. “Jeez, I’m so sorry Shannon,” DJ said, his head still bowed. He felt like he didn’t deserve her eye contact. “God, I feel like such a dickhead…I’m terrible at making friends…Oh there I go again, talking about myself,” he thought aloud, shaking his head at himself in disapproval. “I’m sorry if I offended you…Are you okay?”
(Considering Kemon's alone, I'll go for it. I'll make a new thread.)

Shannon caught her breath. "Oh my god, DJ I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you feel bad. I'm not angry with you at all, it was a very reasonable question. And you aren' that bad at making friends, I'm just...sometimes a bit difficult to get along with recently. I'm fine, really." She reached out to touch his shoulder, ducking to try and make eye contact. "That was so not your fault, I shouldn't have reacted, and I apologize."
((Okay.))

“No, it’s okay, your reaction was normal. It must be hard and all…” he cut himself off, realizing that Shannon had bobbed down to look at his face. He instinctively raised his head so she wouldn’t have to. For an uncomfortably long moment, brown irises met blue. DJ decided not to ask any questions on why and how Shannon was crippled, feeling like she most likely didn’t want to be reminded that she was bound to a wheelchair. Clearing his throat, he broke the eye contact. “Um…So, do you want me to get you a drink or something, since, y’know, you kinda have to stay and uh…” he could tell that he was going to talk about the wheelchair, but did his best to divert the topic. “…y’know, mind the music and all…”
(You somehow managed to post here before I could get off my lazy butt and start a thread XD)

((Lol! Oh yes, I have mad skizzles. xP)) "DJ, I appreciate your sensitivity to the topic, but it's okay to talk about it, really." she told him gently. "I don't mind. It's not like I haven't had time to get used to it." She decided not to mention that she still had the occasional nightmare of that afternoon...

“Yeah, I know its okay to talk about it. But y’know, it’s not polite to stare and all that.” DJ laughed, and then found himself staring at his feet. He wanted to ask Shannon questions about the wheelchair, but they barely knew each other…It’d be rude…right? “So, do you want a drink or not? One condition though; play some Daft Punk for me. Fair deal?”
(Dammit, bad reply, sorry.)

"Hell yes!" Shannon replied with a grin. Just then the song that had been playing ended. "Perfect timing, too." she messed with the dials, and DJ's music began. "Now, what about that punch?" she asked with a grin. ((No worries, it wasn't that bad. ))

“Right…About that…” He jolted over to the drink table as soon as the beginning of “Around the World” boomed out of the speakers. Couples had suddenly converted to night-club style dancing, waving their arms in the air, a few girls in the corner “WHOO”-ed and clapped as soon as the song echoed through the dining hall. DJ quickly filled a cup with punch for Shannon, and then poured a cup of coke for himself. He carefully walked through the crowd, making sure he didn’t spill any coke or punch. “Sorry if this turns out to be spiked,” he joked with a smile, placing the punch down on the DJ’s corner. “Has that even happened at Four Oaks before?”

"I wouldn't know, it's my first year here," Shannon replied, taking the punch. "Not that I would mind," she joked. "It is very good though."

“Oh, I see. Same for me too – first year here, I mean. I guess you couldn’t give me any heads up on the teachers then? Oh well…” He shrugged his shoulders, taking a sip of his coke as he watched people dance to Daft Punk. “So, what music are you into?”

"Oh, everything. And I mean that quite literally. Except country. Yuck. But I especially love music with a fun beat, or that's fun to dance to. What about you?" she lined up the next song, her fingers flying across the controls.

DJ shrugged his shoulders. "I'm mainly into techno-dance junk," he replied, taking another sip of his coke before continuing. "But every now and then I listen to pop with a small side of hip hop." A new song began to play, the first few notes answered by an eruption of screams. "Country's okay, but it's not my cup of tea either," he said, raising his voice over the squeals and music. "So, where did you learn how to be a DJ?"

"Huh, that's a good question. I don't know, just kind of picked it up somewhere. Not really sure, to be honest." she responded, smiling warmly at him. "So what are you into?"
